TRAN TM 6.1 - Improve safety for all modes and users of the transportation system to ultimately achieve a system with no fatalities or serious injuries.

Voluntary Speed Compliance
  • This metric is measured monthly and quarterly, the most recent data available is Dec 2024
  • The source of this data is from a third-party vendor for both mobile photo radar cameras and red light cameras; frequency for updating the data is dependent on their timeline
  • This metric represents the percentage of vehicles monitored by the photo radar system in the 30 mph zones that comply with the posted speed limit.
  • This metric is impacted by several factors including the amount of staff time devoted to photo radar, weather conditions, locations where it is deployed, the number of days it is deployed, and the number of vehicles monitored.
Number of Injury/Fatal Crashes
  • Injury/Fatal crashes are the number of reported public street crashes involving motor vehicles, bicyclists or pedestrians where someone was injured or killed.
  • Injury/Fatal crashes were on target during Q4'24
  • The 78 injury/fatal crashes in Q3'24 were lower than the previous 5-year average for Q4 of 88.
  • The increase in serious injury crashes is following the national trend which is reporting crashes at the highest rate in a decade.
  • Some good news in that serious and fatal crashes have been lower in all quarters of 2024 compared to 2023.
Average Speed on Neighborhood Streets

Speed compliance on neighborhood streets remains high. This is a positive indicator that the Neighborhood Traffic Mitigation Program is effective in its mission.

Number of People Trained on Vehicle, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Safety

This metric reflects the efforts to educate and encourage people to safely use walking, bicycling and transit as a way to travel.  The number of people contacted and or enrolled remains strong and continues to grow post pandemic.
