TRAN TM 6.5 - Maintain existing and aging transportation infrastructure to keep the system in a state of good repair and continually address missing elements to meet community needs and expectations.
Cumulative Lane Miles of Roadway Pavement Improved
- This metric tracks progress of the annual of pavement resurfacing goal to maintain a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 'B' (Good). The goal was reset in 2024 from 100 lane-miles to 130 LM to reflect the lane-miles needed to achieve a target PCI of 75. Our current PCI is 72.8 and continues to decline due to inflation and system growth.
- Q4 is typically a slower period for resurfacing, as most resurfacing work occurs in Q2 and Q3 when weather conditions are more favorable. In Q4, efforts shift to concrete repairs and crack sealing in preparation for the following season.
- The final resurfacing total for 2024 was 104.3 lane-miles, reaching 80% of the 130-lane-mile goal. This shortfall highlights the ongoing funding challenge to maintain a Level of Service (LOS) 'B.'
City-wide sidewalk network (square feet)
This is the quarterly metric for sidewalk square feet that are installed, repaired/replaced, or brought into ADA compliance. The fourth quarter is usually a very low construction quarter for meeting the metric goals.
Percent Arterial Bike Network Crossings Completed
This year Drake/Miles House median refuge island was completed which is an interim improvement until funding can be secured for pedestrian hybrid beacon. Also completed non-arterial crossing improvements at Centre/Spring Creek Trail, Centre/Rolland Moore, and Wabash/Benthaven.
