Total Cost of Workers Comp Claims

Workers' compensation claims have seen a significant increase in costs over the years due to a variety of factors. One major contributor is the rising medical expenses associated with treatment for workplace injuries, including more advanced diagnostic tests, specialized treatments, and longer rehabilitation periods. In addition, the complexity of cases has grown, especially traumatic brain injuries, contributing to longer recovery times, extended periods of disability, and increased treatment costs. The inflationary pressures on wages also contribute, as workers’ compensation benefits are linked to salary levels. Moreover, with the growing awareness of mental health issues in the workplace, claims related to stress, anxiety, and other psychological injuries have added a new dimension to the financial burden on workers' compensation systems. These factors combined have made it increasingly challenging to manage and reduce the overall costs of workers' compensation claims.
